IM VERY SORRY ABOUT ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT HAS LOST ANY LOVED ONE OVER A DRUG OVERDOSE. IT IS A TRUE AND SAD THING TO LOSE ANYONE AND I HOPE I DONT UPSET ANYONE BECAUSE I HAVE NO INTENTIONS TO DO SO. I JUST WROTE MY STORY AND MY OPINION ABOUT A DRUG OVERDOSE ABOUT A FRIEND.
I HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING I LOST A REALLY GOOD CLOSE PERSONAL FRIEND THAT I HAVE KNOWN FOR ABOUT 16 YEARS ON APRIL 4TH OF THIS YEAR. AND IT WAS BECAUSE OF A PAIN PILL OVERDOSE FROM OCs,OPANAS,ROXYS,XANAX. HE WAS NOT EVEN 21 YEARS OLD YET AND HAD 3 BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN. ALL I DID THE DAY I FOUND OUT WAS THINK OF MY LITTLE BROTHER STEVEN. HE IS 21 JUST A YEAR OLDER. KK AND STEVEN HUNG OUT WITH EACH OTHER EVERY DAY. AND I NO FOR A FACT MY LITTLE BROTHER STEVEN DONT DO DRUGS. DONT GET ME WRONG HE HAS TRYED PAIN PILLS,SMOKED POT AND DRANK 1 OR 2 TIMES IN THE PAST. BUT YOU CANT BLAME THE DRUG, BECAUSE IF TWO REALLY GOOD FRIENDS THAT SEE EACH OTHER EVERY DAY AND HANG OUT WITH ONE ANOTHER AND ONE USES AND THE OTHER DONT THEN ITS NOT THE DRUG KILLING YOU. ITS THE PERSON THAT IS DOING THE DRUG BECAUSE THE DRUG DONT HOLD YOU UNDER GUN POINT AND SAY TAKE ME OR I WILL SHOOT YOU. ITS THE USER I NO BECAUSE IM A ADDICT AND MY WIFE AINT.WE ARE BOTH ON PAIN KILLERS I ABUSE THEM. I TAKE 8 A DAY AND SOME TIMES A HELL OF A LOT MORE.BUT ON THE OTHER HAND MY WIFE GOES BY WHAT THE DR. AND WHAT THE BOTTLE SAYS ITS BEEN LIKE THAT FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS. SHE HAS NEVER TAKEN MORE THEN WHAT THE BOTTLE HAS SAID. BUT NOT ME IM OUT WITHEND 2 WEEKS AND BEGGING HER FOR HERS. MY CHOICE OF DRUG IS PERKS AND ROXYS.IM NOT SAYING THEY ARENT BAD 4 YOU BUT IF A PERSON CAN TAKE THEM LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO FOR 7 YEARS LIKE MY WIFE AND EACH MONTH HER LIVER AND ALL OF HER VITAL SIGNS ARE GOOD.THEN THE WORST DRUG OF ALL IS THE PERSON THAT IS TAKING IT. BECAUSE HE OR SHE THINKS THEY ARENT GOING TO OVERDOSE ON THEM. I NO BECAUSE THATS WHAT KK WOUNLD SAY EVER TIME HE WOULD NODE OFF AND SWEAT ALOT AND START VOMITING AND ALL OF US WOULD TELL HIM TO SLOW DOWN OR EAT SOMETHING.THAT IS THE TRUE KILLER THE PERSON THAT IS OUT OF CONTROL AND TAKES ONE AFTER ANOTHER. DONT GET ME WRONG I MISS HIM EVERY DAMN DAY. AND SINCE HIS DEATH IT HAS OPENED MY EYES ABOUT LIFE AND WHY I IM HERE. BECAUSE I WAS A TRUE KILLER TO BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT COULD NOT HAPPEN TO ME. BUT I REALIZED IT CAN. SO DONT BLAME THE DRUG OR THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE IT BECAUSE THAT IS A COPOUT. WE NEED TO PUT THE BLAME WERE THE BLAME NEEDS TO BE.AND IT IS THE PEOPLE THAT ABUSE THEM BECAUSE THEY WANT TO GET REAL HIGH AND LOOK COOL AROUND THERE FRIENDS. IF TAKEN THE RIGHT WAY IT REALLY WORKS JUST ASK MY WIFE …..R.I.P KK WE MISS YOU AND WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER AND LOVE YOU

My son Riley has not yet died but he will if he continues. The worst part is he insists he does not have a problem. Mothers and Fathers should not have to watch their children kill themselves. This drug has consumed his life, he lives on the streets, never worried about food or bathing; never worried about anything but finding enough money to get the high. This has been a three year nightmare that gets worse each and every day. The high is apparently so good that one can not reason with themselves enough to admit they are an addict. My heart goes out to anyone who has been part of the war this drug wages on its victims and their loved ones.

Yeah it is like impossible Psychically to not get addicted to Oxycontin prolonged use of the drug makes your body and mind addicted, and it is extremely hard to stop taking the drug cold turkey, if you had been taking it for +1 years. I think this drug should be banned, and find alternative methods to pain management.

I lost my brother 08/08/2004 Joseph D. Woodman to an overdose of Oxycodone & Avinza (24 hour released Oxycontin)To this day I do not understand why his physician was prescrbing so much pain medication I find it rather it hard to believe we as a society need drugs like Oxycontin,Fentanyl,and Avinza to relieve pain there has to be another way! I also agree that Oxycontin causes the same effects as heroin to the body so I ask the obvious question, how is this legal? I along with many others have had their lives crushed due to this pandemic. To anyone that knows what it feels like to find your love one dead my heart goes out to you because it it indeed a life altering experience. With so many similar stories how can this still be going on? This is worse than the crack cocaine epidemic,worse than MDMA,and worse than heroin because it is our government that is the dealer!

Ridiculous to blame a drug for the death of the people who abuse the drug. The drug taker unfortunately is responsible. The drug us for pain and not everyone has to increase the amount taken for pain relief. To suggest getting rid of a drug that helps many people have any type of life is just absurd. These kids who die from oxycontin are addicts and found the drug they liked. There is no accounting for stupidity when the drug says not to crush or split the pill and those who abuse it, are crushing it up and snorting it or crushing it up and injecting it. The drug didn’t crush itself and force itself into the person. It is sad that they died but come on now don’t be ridiculous. Why not take cars off the road because people get drunk and die in car accidents?

Hey, my boyfriend is 18 years old he started oxys when he was 17. After hearing these storys and even before I’m more than scared for his life. He’s the only person i have in my life left. my mother died and my father they were addicts of other drugs. my boyfriend just wont quit and its so hard being a 16 year old girl watching the only thing in her life slip away, if you guys can help me with tips to get him to quit you dont understand how greatful i would be thank you

Alcohol obviously has addictive properties. Why aren’t you asking to take this off the market? Many substances that are merely recreational or that really do help a certain number of people can be addictive. The users of oxycontin need to be monitored very closely, especially when they ask for an increase in dosage. My sister has an addictive personality and I believe has become addicted to oxycontin. However, her doctors provide no oversight or control. They simply give her what she wants. But, just because she has problems controlling her addiction, doesn’t mean that the drug doesn’t help millions of chronic pain sufferers. They should not be denied access to a drug that can make their lives worth living. For the people who overdosed, I am sorry you have lost a loved one. But they were misusing a drug intended to help people who aren/t just partying, but are trying to live as normal a life as they can given their painful conditions.

I lost my son Joseph Thomas Hall IV on 08-10-09. I found my boy laying on his bedroom floor from Oxycontin. I had no idea my boy even had this. I had no idea my son even had this powerful, deadly drug. As a mother finding my son at 11am that horrible Monday morning on the floor, I tried so hard to wake him up but he just would not wake up. I tried several times to explain to the police, the corners begging them to let me go to my son that I could fix this. But as I have come to these horrible tragic ending this was one that I could not fix as a mother. God Forbid, but should this deadly drug take the life of one the makers of this drug, then maybe they would know the anger, sadness, tears that will not stop, numbiness and the list goes on..then and only then maybe they will hear our cries for help.
